The traditional Christmas markets at Náměstí svobody sq. and Zelný trh sq. launched last week. Just like the last year, you can walk through them to get some presents, sausages, hot wine, or just to enjoy the Christmas atmosphere.
“The night of the masks”, the grand finale of the annual Theatre Festival, is starting at Zelný trh sq. at 7 p.m. on Friday – and then continuing around the town centre.
The people living in Brno were looking for a place where to store various goods in a town that was surrounded by fortification, so they created an unique “underground town”.
On Sunday, May 31, there will be a traditional fair held at Zelný trh sq. Kids can see goats and other animals, their parents will be allowed to taste Czech beer and wine.
By autumn of 2010, approx. 700 m long path beneath old town hall and vegetable market will be opened to its first regular visitors.
