Café ERA teaser: national flags

by Michal Kašpárek on 03/29/2011

More than a year after the originally promised date, the reconstruction of the famous café ERA is almost finished.

I had a chance to made several photos there yesterday. Although its exterior looks really simple, as it was designed in the 1920s in the functionalist style, its interior shines with wild, eye-catching colors.

I discovered several well-hiden “national flags” at its walls:

Czechoslovakia

Czechoslovakia

France

France

Poland

Poland

Egypt

Egypt

Monaco

Monaco

This is how the café looks right now:

I will let you know the date ERA opens as soon as I know it.

Famous Café Era to reopen in 2009

January 1, 2009

One of the most famous moravian cafés of the pre-war era and also a jewel of the functionalist architecture of Brno, café Era, will be renovated at last. Luboš Ptáček, who bought the ruin in 2002, wants to have new café Era opened again until the end 2009.
