October 2013 Picks: Coffee Week, 65daysofstatic

10/1-10/7 – Coffee Week

70+ cafés joined this week-long event to host various shows, degustations, presentations and concerts – and to promote the brown miracle of coffee. Check out the schedule (EN) and get a handy map.

Saturday 10/5 – Hrnem Brnem

“Rush through Brno” is a decentralised festival held in 6 clubs: Favál, Fléda, Melodka, Mersey, Metro and Yacht. The line-up(s) don’t offer any big star (I am sorry, Bruno Ferrari) but on the other hand, the event is totally free of charge, including the special toll-free bus lines connecting the clubs. Thank you, Starobrno brewery! (No, seriously. Thanks!)

Modern vocal jazz. CZK 150/190.

Friday 10/11 – Carl Cox @ Kajot Arena

Friday 10/11 – Balkan Bahasvel Party @ Kabinet Múz

The two DJs of MALALATA SOUND SYSTEM (SK) just know how to start up a party; that’s why I hired them for my own wedding :) Guest star: LENIN KREVIC.

Wednesday 10/16 – Benjamin Koppel / Scott Colley / Brian Blade @ Metro Music Bar

Great jazz. A bit pricey (CZK 450-550).

Thursday 10/16 – Suzi Quatro @ Vodova Hall

If Can the Can & If You Can’t Give Me Love remind you your youth, this concert be worth CZK 690+ for a ticket. Otherwise, dismiss.

Automotodrom Brno makes it possible for you to try the racing circuit in your own vehicle.
