Join the happening “Brno Buskers Banned?” to support street performers

As you may have read at Brno Now, the town council banned public drinking and beggary. The law is written in such a stupid way that it prohibites busking – and policemen will be able to bundle even the most talented musicians and artists off the streets, at least if these performers accept money.

If you want to show some support to buskers, join a peaceful protest on Friday afternoon. From 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., you are invited to perform music anywhere in the centre of the town – the purpose is to occupy the city by buskers.

At 7:00 p.m., the protest will move to Česká st. to a final performance and a short briefing with local press.

If you came to Brno from, let’s say, USA or France, it is good to mention that these demonstrations here are really peaceful and safe for the participants. So take a guitar and and old hat – and show us some rock’n'roll. (Or just walk downtown to listen to some music, maybe for the last time.)

I have never seen so few buskers than in Brno’s streets actually.
