New adventures in sexist advertising

by Michal Kašpárek on October 9, 2009

Non-profit organization Nesehnutí is looking for the most sexist Czech ad. Good news everyone: Brno has two finalists!

I almost crashed my car when I saw this for the first time:

Madame Megane wants you to stop being afraid of used vehicles. Literally.

This one is cute as well:

Bordellos are illegal in the Czech republic but they can advertise in public. Wonderful.

I remember there was a “beautiful” banner in a hardware shop in Židenice, advertising a chain by a picture of a woman beaten by the chain. Now that’s gangsta.

Funny thing is, the same sort of men who respond positively to this kind of advertising tend to complain about their missis being dumb and only interested in shopping, gossiping, manipulating them and taking money from them. You deserve her, you idiot! After all, you´re probably just a male version of the same waste of space she is.

I drove around Belveder billboard few days ago and I noticed they repair it recently. It shines with bright colors and girl’s panties are again distracting drivers around :)

For the first look I didn´t recognize (due to the damage) it were panties! I though she was absolutely naked and that had been the reason people scratched it.

The Belveder billboard has been my favourite for some time (unbelievable, isn’t it?), but I didn’t know the Pokorný one, which is even much worse. Thanks for sharing!
I’ve come accross this ad recently: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZnrTqNSn8o&feature=related
The good news is that it has been banned; the bad news is the keen reaction of most of the people who made comments about it on youtube… People just don’t feel that there is anything wrong with these kinds of commercials.
