David Věžník won our competition and will get two tickets to Friday party at Fléda. As a former vegetarian, I totally agree with his choice:
Many of my friends and colleagues think I am a vegetarian. It’s not true although I often eat in vegetarian restaurants. There are more reasons why. The first is a feeling that I do something good for my body eating there, the second is that in many (or all?) of these restaurants smoking (which is annoying during eating) is not allowed, the third is a kind of unique friendly athmosphere which you can find there.
In Brno there are at least five vegetarian restaurants, I know three of them personally:
Spirála
Potatoes a la Provence in Spirála. Pic by Michal Kašpárek
Spirála lies in the very heart of Brno – at Orlí strreet near Náměstí svobody sq. and it is my favourite. The owner is a friendly guy with a never disappearing smile on his face. There are about five main dishes for about 70 CZK (3 EUR) offered in the restaurant or you can choose one of take-away sweets prepared right there. You can also buy plenty of ingrediences to cook your own meal at home.
The only minus of Spirála is it’s opening time: you can visit it from Monday to Friday just in between 11 am and 3 pm.
Vegalite
Vegalite is quite a new restaurant (opened this year) which lies at the Cejl street. The owners are young men who had a dream to provide both vegetarian food and music under one roof. Vegalite is a place where you can hear live music several times a month then. When you go there for a lunch you can choose from three kinds of menu (also for about 70 CZK), at least one of them for strict vegans.
Free waterpipe-water and WI-FI are included as well as the part for smokers which could be found as a disadvantage of Vegalite.
Rebio
This restarurant lies at Orlí street to, not so far from Spirála then, a new “division” has been opened in Velký špalíček recently. I don’t know anything about the owners just they must be pretty wealthy – Rebio is one of the most popular vegetarian restaurants in Brno… and the most expensive.
There are lots of meals provided there under the DIY claim: you take a plate, walk along the long desk, put whataver you are pekish for, let it be weighted and simply be shocked by the final price. Yet soups in Rebio are the best I’ve ever eaten: rough, tough and heavy.
Enjoy your meal!

Hi
I’m a semi-vegetarian expat in Brno, and I HAVE to point out you forgot HARIBOL next to Luzanky park (Antoninska stop).
It’s really good, interesting (in a good way) and cheap :)
If you come for lunch there is no menu, they just bring you the meal, but I have never been disappointed (or just from a minor thing on the plate, but speaking of the plate it is always so full of so many colorful stuff with starter, main course and desert and drink)
Go try it out! :)
I ate at Harbol few years ago and it was one of my worst gastronomical experiences ever, letting alone I do not believe in “pi water” etc. Different people, different tastes :)
