On Friday, August 14, one of the biggest and most expensive villas of Brno, Villa Stiassny, is accessible to general public for the very last day before it will be closed for a reconstruction.
Villa Stiassny is pretty crowded these days
The building is desolated - as other villas once owned by Jews and now owned by state
The house is surrounded by a huge park that makes it invisible from street
Villa Stiassny is located at Hroznová st. 14. It was designed in the 1920s by renowed architect Ernst Wiesner and built for a jewish businessman Alfred Stiassny. Since the WW2, the villa has been belonging to state, which has been using it as a luxurious accommodation for foreign politicians and diplomats — including for Fidel Castro, who slept in the villa in 1972.
