Brno is suffering from heavy traffic jams these days. Here are the reasons – and solutions as well.
- Vídeňská st. (route 52) has been reduced from 4 lanes to only 2 lanes due to a reconstruction. The limitation will last until June 30.Zvětšit mapu
- The number of lanes was also reduced at the cross of Heršpická st. and Poříčí st. – this makes the southern centre totally jammed. The crossroad won’t have been fully opened before the end of July.Zvětšit mapu
- The Building Fairs, one of the biggest events held every year at the exposition ground in quarter Pisárky, starts on Tuesday 21st. This leads to a huge increase of cars in the streets.
Here are several tips:
- Leave your car at home.
- Use tramways and trains, but remember that buses stuck in the traffic jams as well as cars.
- Think about commuting by bike. I have published a huge article with advices.
- If you have to use your car, try to avoid driving trough the south centre, along the banks of Svratka river. Instead, try to use highway D1 to travel from west to east and vice versa. If possible, avoid the rush hours (7-9 a.m. & 3-5 p.m.).
